Truly Tragic

Wow.

I started to write a post for today but then stumbled across this article linked by Justin Taylor. It literally took any energy that I had away. I'm not exactly sure how one is supposed to respond to this story.

Read it here.
See the Depravity and hate it.
See that we too would be in the same place but for the grace of God.
See God's sovereignty in the midst of darkness.

In Christ alone,

She is one wicked mother. Reminds me of the Israelites in the desert. Providence every day and yet still they were of a reprobate mind.

Hey Mike,

Thanks for the link to that story. Makes you feel very sad for the world.

We shouldn't judge her, rather pray for her and especially for her daughter and the stuff she will be dealing with all her life.

We shouldn't judge her

Depending on what you mean, we may very well agree. If you mean that we shouldn't be the ones who decide whether she will spend eternity in Heaven or Hell, then I agree. God will look upon the hearts of all people and those who are covered by the blood of Jesus will be saved. All others will be condemned. This is not our job.

However, if you mean that we cannot say that her actions are wrong, then I must disagree. Attempting to murder your unborn daughter is definitely wrong. To then have the child and sue for all of the problems she has caused is terrible. Loving God means loving the things that God loves and hating the things that God hates. Hopefully we can agree that God hates depraved behavior like this.

However, this should not lead us to believe that we are any better than her. Apart from the grace of God, we would be in exactly the same situation. This, must cause us to Praise God all the more.

For these reasons, I stated:
"See the Depravity and hate it.
See that we too would be in the same place but for the grace of God."

We must definitely pray for her and pray for Jayde. We can also trust that God in his sovereignty will use this mightily. However, I do want to caution against creating a false dichotomy here. We can judge that these actions are wrong AND Pray for the family. This is not an either/or type of situation.

Hopefully we agree on this issue. Since some terms used were slightly ambiguous I did want to comment and make sure that we were on the same page. If we do agree - then fantasitc - consider my comments a safeguard against a person misunderstanding your post. If we disagree, then I suppose we can examine why you do disagree.

In Christ alone,
mike
